Legacy Avaya Lives On: Extending Your Systems Past End of Life

is December 1, 2025.Product lifecycles are a common convention in many industries. Smartphones, PCs, video game consoles, even cars adhere to the idea that the old must give way to the new at some point. Voice systems are no different. avaya phone

For users of on-premises Avaya products, the product lifecycle is an important thing to account for. Obtaining the necessary maintenance and support for legacy systems becomes increasingly difficult after End of Life (EoL) or End of Manufacturer Support (EoMS).

As a leading provider in third-party Avaya maintenance, Continuant can keep organizations using legacy Avaya systems from falling victim to the product lifecycle.

    Understanding Avaya EoMS

EoMS is very self-explanatory. At a certain point, Avaya stops manufacturing certain systems, after which it will eventually stop supporting them. For example, The Avaya CM5 went EoMS in 2014, and its final EoL date is December 1, 2025.

The reason is simple: Avaya wants you to use its new stuff. That’s not a bad thing, per say. Avaya continues to innovate and make industry-leading voice solutions for organizations of all sizes. Upgrading to the latest and greatest Avaya products is always a viable option.

That said, there are many organizations that would like to avoid the upgrade process. It can be costly and even disruptive. For them, there’s a need for third-party maintenance and support to keep legacy devices running like their brand new.

Luckily for them, they can get that from Continuant.

    Continuant Support Across Multiple Industries

Over the past 28 years, we at Continuant have provided customers of all sizes with third-party maintenance for systems from many different providers. Avaya, however, is our specialty. Whether our customers work in healthcare, manufacturing, or higher education, we provide tailored services so they can get the most out of their systems.

Here are a few examples of what we do for our customers.

    Healthcare

It’s not at all uncommon for hospitals to rely on older communication technology. Devices such as pager systems have been in use for many, many years, and aren’t the easiest thing to simply rip out and replace. Hospitals often use legacy Avaya systems as well, especially if an upgrade is too expensive.

Continuant has partnered with many different healthcare organizations to provide the support they need for their complex environments.

Tenet Healthcare was one such case. This Fortune 500 healthcare giant ran on Avaya system that was past its EoMS date. With Tier III engineer support from Continuant, this system ran at peak efficiency for many years to come.

    Manufacturing

Manufacturing companies need efficient communication to keep their supply chains in order. Legacy systems from Avaya help maintain this, especially in remote locations where cellular service or internet isn’t available.

In fact, some locations require employees not to carry personal devices to keep signals and radiation from damaging certain products. For them, on-premises technology is simply non-negotiable.

For the Fortune 500 cable manufacturer Anixter, they were able to keep their Avaya network running at peak efficiency with support from Continuant. We provided both remote and onsite support initially for their locations in North and South America before branching out to 21 different international locations.

    Education

Most schools, especially in higher education, have made major migrations to modern cloud solutions. Even so, they often rely on legacy systems to meet E911 regulations and ensure communications can be maintained even when internet connection is lost.

New York’s famous Cornell University had this same issue, maintaining communication in its rural location. Our highly skilled teams at Continuant upgraded and supported Cornell’s Avaya systems and laid the groundwork for its own future migration to a new UC solution.

    Preserving the Legacy

Organizations that keep Avaya systems have plenty of reasons to do so and often have reasons to not shell out for an expensive upgrade or migration. Continuant provides them the support they need, backed by decades of experience and a commitment to customer service.

Across industries, we’ve proven our ability to assist global enterprises and Fortune 500 companies with cost-effective Avaya support, even if their systems have long since reached EoL or EoMS. Our maintenance services protect a key investment and dramatically reduce downtime.

If you’re using an Avaya system such as the CM7 or CS1000, we’ll be able to keep it running just as well as it did the day you bought it.
